I'm upgrading my T5 again...

Going from 4x 54w with half reflector and 3x 39w no reflector to 8x 54watts with reflectors, half driven with an IceCap.

I can keep a Bubble coral on the send and keep sps alive at 2 feet.

I guess I'll toast the softy on sand? :D

Using what is avail. in Canada: Replacement reflector for 48" Tek Light (8).

Cost 115$cdn for 8 reflector for a Canadian dealer.
Most place charge 28$ each.

A local LFS that only sell corals with about 300 SPS there said 8x T5HO should be at Max of 12" from any to get good growth.

I thought that someone did a test with t-5 and found that they had better par at the bottom of a 30in. tall tank than halides. the reason being that it is a broader light source that covers more area and reflects off of the bottom better. i know they don't look as bright at the bottom than halides but that is because halides are a single source point.

You won't be toasting anything on the sand. I run 8 x 80w (overdriven) T5s on a 24" tall tank. I have LPS up to halfway up doing just fine.
