My largest acro turned white at the tips, which I believe was from alk burn. Will it grow back faster if I leave the tips there or snip off the dead portions? I try to keep algae off, but two are getting hard to keep clean and white.

I think i did the same. its only one tip of one coral. maybe an 1/8 of an inch.

A few months back my tricolor got alk burn. I cut off a couple tips, and I left a few to see which would grow back faster. In the end it didn't make much difference. Where I didn't cut the tips back the tricolor just encrusted right over the dead part, and where I did it just started growing again. In the end they are about even now, so you can do which ever you want. And by the way, you don't need to keep the algae off of the tips. My tricolor encrusted right over the little tufts of hair algae and diatoms that were on the dead part.

I'm positive it isn't new growth.
