My LFS guy just talked me into it and it seems like a good skimmer so far. If is running in a bucket to clean it out as per the instructions. If anyone has one of these I would like to hear about it good or bad.

Thanks
Tom

I think you're confusing the new C-Skim 1200 with the old and often panned RedSea Prizm Skimmer...

The C-Skim 1200 is actually a well thought out product and works very well.

The only one I have seen was returned to premium aquatics, probably not a good sign. But take that as you will.

Well it is way to early to tell but it seems to work as expected. It is making foam but it is not stable yet. I will report in from time to time.

There's an in-depth magazine review which we have posted on the website (www.redseafish.com). You will also find some good reports on various forums from some very happy users.

I have been a use for about 48 hours now, with the first 24 running in a bucket of salt water to clean it out as per the directions. after the second 24hous this time in my sump a thick foam of goo was starting to flow over into the collection cup. It seems to be working as expected. My only objextion is the 90 degree elbow at the out flow leaks a bit (i fussed with it for a while to get it to stop dripping) and the diameter of the outflow pipe is not standard PVC pipe fitting. Thus making an attachment to it a bit tricky. Other than that it seems to be a fine unit and my tank was super clear this morning.

Well it has been a few days now and the new skimmer is making lots of brown foam. The tank is noticably clearer and my lps (duncans, frogspawn, open brain and hammers) are all looking very good indeed. I like this new skimmer and would recommend it to the forum.

Thanks for choosing a C-Skim, which has received some great responses from users. Regarding the elbow fitting- this has led to one negative review on MD, which was unfortunately down to the customer not installing it properly. The elbow is deliberately a very tight fit and has a large O ring. These units can be used in or out of a sump and the last thing you want is a leaker! Beause the fit is so tight, some people have been wary of applying enough force to make the connection. It's a really robust unit and can take some force. Once you push the elbow in and turn the bayonet clock-wise, give it another twist to lock it into place. Every C-Skim is leak-tested before leaving the factory so we know the fittings are very secure. For anyone not sure how to properly make the connection we have even shot a short video. PM me if you need it.
