I am ordering 80 pounds of live rock from Premium Aquatics. I live in Washington and was wondering wha type of shipping I should choose it is 71 bucks for UPS ground and jumps up to over 200 dollars for 3 day air. Which method should I choose? I don't really want to pay more than 400 buck for live rock. Is there any place where it would be cheaper to ship it to Seattle, Wa?

there will be die off either way. just one will cause more. ..ebay has stuff. good prices. but really it depends on if you have a separate tank so they go through some sort of cycle period. you wouldnt want to just throw it in your tank. cause it will cause some sort of cycle. not good when you have an established tank. so your call really. if you have a tank to cycle the rock. pay least as possible on shipping. that way you can get more rock......if your going rite into a tank, then go to your local spot, bring bucket or buckets with tank water and just bring them home, then drop and play..........hows that sound to ya?

Marine Depot may be cheaper. I believe they ship from Anaheim. you are probably in a 2 day ground zone from there.

They ship from Wisconsin. Check the FedEx site too see if you are 2 day ground. u doubt it though.

The rock at Premium is well worth it. I would just have it shipped UPS ground. Or call them and ask them how it was shipped to them. I bet you would be alright though.

Why are you ordering live rock online? We have a bunch of LFS around here that sell excellent rock,Barrier Reef and Shark Reef in Silverdale to name a few, and then you get to cherry pick your pieces, Shark has some of the best Jakarta LR around he gets it direct from the Island .;)

Just ordered 100 lbs of LR.

I had to pick it up at the airport. From FL to PA was $90.

It was US Airways Freight.

FWIW - Ship on M T or W, definitely not on Friday.

Nice to find some one else from seattle. Shark reef is 80 miles from me so that would be a long drive and being 14 years old it would mean convincing my dad to drive me. Barriar reef looks better about the same distance from my house as dennys pet world i will have to check that out. Roughly how much per pound?

I usally jump on the ferry, and ride over its about $24.00 round trip, its also pretty cool on a sunny day, I am not sure what Barrier LR is at right now ,I know our local reef club talks highly about there stuff they get in though, Shark Reef is from $4.00 to $6.00 per pound for some of the premium, It is worth the travel if you can get there though, also check out our local club, Puget Sound Aquarium Society:)

Live Aquaria ships from LA and not Wisconsin, their 45lb box of premium Fiji is $149.99. 2 day air shipping is $1.39/lb and 1 daty air is $1.59/lb.

So 45 lbs will cost $221.54 for 1 day and and $212.54 for 2 day shipping.

They also have standard live rock that is $89.99 for a 45/lb box but it is out of stock. Same shipping prices apply.
