i have an Aqua Euro 400.
this thing is noisy when the water is spilling out of it.

would a gate valve mod be useable on a skimmer such as this?

and would it be possible that one of your kits would work for it?

if so i can measure the plumbing.
do you need the measurements of the peice attached to the skimmer?
or the tube(sleeve) that can be adjusted.
thank you

You would need the measurement of the piece above the skimmers output elbow (the pipe that the adjustable riser goes around).

I'm sure a gate valve mod would be usable and helpful, it's just figuring out which size you need.

is it possible anyhow that adding this would put to much back pressure on the water ? even with the valve all the way open?

the AE 400 is a 3 pump skimmer and its noisy

Well, a gate valve works by adding back pressure to control the water height, so you will have that when adjusting the level...but there should be minimal back pressure with the valve all the way open. I would recommend when you install it to install it so that the bottom of the tee is about 2" lower than your normal operating water level, that way you've got adjustment with the valve not just running it wide open.

oh i see so i would need to cut the existing pipe a little bit lower?
would it matter how low? i assume you havent had lots of questions about this skimmer brand.
thanx again

would putting the T even lower be more on the safe side

Yes and no...having the tee lower will allow for lower overall water level, but it means that back pressure is the main water control means. The ideal (though I'm not sure if it will work on your skimmer) is to have the adjustable stand pipe in place for course adjustment of the water level using gravity as the primary means of control, then having the gate valve for fine adjustment.

Let us know the measurement of both the standpipe and the pipe that the standpipe slides on and we can hopefully get you a mod kit that will work for you.

the pipe on the skimmer is right close to 2.5 inches.
it is a metric pipe though not sure what the equates to.
and the outer sleeve is a bit larger

Can you get an exact measurement for us? It will help in figuring out what will work for your skimmer.

Thanks,

how much would just a 2 inch gate valve cost?

Let me check and see if we have any 2" in stock and what the price would be....I won't be in the shop tomorrow, so I'll get back with you Friday.
