I seeded my tank with about half fiji live rock and the rest was dry stuff that eventually grew coraline. The price you are paying is about what I paid at the lfs. It was just easier for me than trying to order on line.

I bought dry base rock from rockaquatics.com. I used mostly all dry rock and then bought about 20 pounds of live rock and now it is all covered with coraline algea.

Liveaquaria.com is pretty good for online shopping. Very good prices and they offer somthing like a 2 week gurantee.

Check the local club forums around here. Usually you can find really good deals.
