I want a metal halide, but i was wondering which one i should get. I want to have a couple of SPS and a clam. Should I get a 70 or 150 watt? Does anybody have any pics of theirs with a metal halide? If you had $350 to spend what would you buy? Thanks!!!!!:D

add another 50 and get the 24" current USA outer orbit T5 though it is bigger than the 20" BC it will have a 150W MH and 4 t5s. I recommend this because you will most likely need to upgrade if you wish to keep SPS more that a year as they grow fast and the possiblity of chem warfare. This is also good because 'i think' (not sure so dont quote me on this, only saying because my Current Nova T5 lighting has that kind of set up) it can fit 20inch tanks with its legs becuase they can be pulled back. Though it will look a little outstanding it will offer an actinic supplement and i my opinion it is better than the 20" sunpod or 20" nova extremes.

You might wanna look into a chiller if you want MH on a nano.

I run a Sunpod 150 over my 24g nano and I am getting great growth on my zoas and my RBTA is thriving. The sunpod is a 20 inch fixture that fits perfectly over the nano tanks. You have quite a few options if you step up to a 24 inch light, but in my opinion a 24 inch light looks a bit out of place on a 18 inch tank. A pendant might be another option, or a clamp-on like a viper. Heat can be an issue with my Sunpod especially in the summer. A small fan is all that is needed to bring temps down to 79 to 80 degrees in the dead of summer, but evap rates will raise a quite a bit.
