i dont see any complication keeping them alive with that lighting in such a shallow tank but you wont be able guarantee that they will thrive as i imagine you want them too.

there are much more efficient lighting methods out there, but then again there aren't many 30" fixture to begin with......i would look into MHs or T5s if you dont mind 3" on each side of ur tank not being lit directly.

I agree, T5 or MH is the way to go, stay away from PC, bulb lifespan is always an issue. You can keep pretty much any SPS you want if you go with T5 or MH. Look on the selling forums, you can get some great deals on lighting.

Some of the Monti's can be grown under PC lights, but if you don't already have them I would plan on T-5 or MH if you want alot of SPS.

Monti's are good, along with some easier acros like stags.

From my experience keeping SPS in 10g and 20g tanks the most important thing is water quality. Lighting is also important, as all sps keepers know. I was able to grow a purple digita in my 10g w/ 80w PC lighting from a 1.5" frag to a softball sized colony in about 12 months. It just takes patience.
