auto topoff as doser?

Does anyone use their auto top off as a doser for Ca and alk? I figure you could but the only thing is i dont know how often it will pump as i dont have a tank yet and it probably won't be enough to maintain the right levels. If this wont work could anyone recommend a good dosing pump/unit thingy? Thanks :)

ive asked the same question to a very experienced reefer lately, basically yes you can, they person concerned said they add the appropiate amount of kalk and add it to the resevoir and stir in, they main advice was to never allow the residue from the kalk to enter the dt, the way to avoid this was to ensure the pipe was above the base of the resevoir

All my topoffs are done with Kalkwasser in an ATO reservoir. It doesn't solve all my Calcium/Alkalinity needs, but definitely helps.
