I have a 75 gallon tank that I will be making my sump. I will be ordering the Octopus Extreme 300 from you guys in about a week.

I was wondering how much room I will need in my sump for the skimmer compartment. I have 17.5" depth but I don't know how much width I need for the skimmer. I am hoping to make the skimmer compartment as small as possible.

Another RC member told me he needed to make his 17.5" x 20" to house his Octo 300. That seems like a lot of room.

Can you guys give me an accurate size to make it or should I wait until I have the skimmer to be sure? Of course I want to have it all ready for when the skimmer arrives but I'll wait if I have to.

Thanks.
Amanda

The footprint is 13" X 17" with the pumps in the vertical position. However you do want to allow for some room to move the skimmer about. You don't want it so tight you dread servicing the skimmer. I always like my skimmer section as large as possible so I can mess with the skimmer without breaking baffles and/or the skimmer itself. Depending on how high you will make the baffles you may need to make a skimmer stand. The skimmer works best between 8-10" of water.
