180 stock list idea - asking for opinions

If we'd get a 180gallon (72inch).. and stock it with the following:

volitan or russels lionfish
porcupine puffer
harlequin tusk
imperator angel
picasso or clown trigger.
maybe a tang as well.


Would we have any big issues??

Now i know the puffer might nip the lionfish, so we're starting with a bigger lionfish, and a smaller puffer... if it doesn't work, one will go.

How about the rest?

What order would you add them in?

And forget about the trigger.. I forgot they're HORRIBLE with Lionfish...

For the most part, I like your list. However, IMO, there are better choices than the Achilles tang. Read this thread as you do your research:

I would keep the following:

volitan lionfish
porcupine puffer OR dogface puffer (I prefer dogface for temperament)
harlequin tusk
imperator angel
mimic, kole, tomini or other smaller tang

if you like triggers, a blue throat trigger should be fine and would not harm the lion (blue throats and their relatives are unusual among triggers in that they are a LOT less aggressive - they also stay a reasonable size).

otherwise, you might add an eel. I have a zebra moray and Brazilian dragon moray in my tank.

I know the dogfaces are friendlier, but... who can resists that cute smile from a porcupine? :-D

We'll look into the tangs and pick a smaller one... I've considered an eel, wife doesn't like them, but they would make a nice addition...

I would not get the Achilles tang.

niger trigger (should be OK with lion)
puffer (i think the dogface are cooler)
tang (i really like the purple tang)

Yeah, I'd scratch the achilles and porc puff. I'd go with a zebrasoma tang (purple etc) or a smaller acanthurus tang (mimic etc) and a dogface puffer. Also a blue throat trigger would fit nicely. Definitely add the emperor last since he will ultimately be the boss of your tank.
