i ask this question because i am at work and there is a really good LFS here that i would like to buy some frags from today. i would buy them, float them in my FW tank in the office to keep the temp around 78 and then warm up my car and drive them home tonight and float them in my tank.

so they would be in the bag from the store for about 8 hours! as long as them temp does not swing too much i dont think it would be a problem!

right?????

I have had frags shipped in that were in bags for two days. It depends on how sensitive they are and like you said keeing the temp constant. You might try it with one and see how it works

considering corals ship from across the country, and i've heard of folks bringing them from distant places, and you're maintaining temperature, and it's only going to be 8 hours, i'd say you should be fine. i think.

thats what i thought - - - - but i was not sure if they treated the water differently when they ship! that would change everything! - - -

thanks for your thoughts!

i'll post pics tomorrow of my newest pets!

aside from possibly filling the bag with o2 i think the only thing they would do is add a heat pack if necessary given time of year/location.

I've driven coral from Michigan to SC in a heated bucket (about 15 hours) - they came through just fine. Make sure their water is agitated enough to keep it oxygenated.

I've shipped corals and fish all over the country without a problem.
Have them double-bag the corals in oversized bags with extra water to help keep the temp more stable.
If they use O2 to fill the bag, great. If not, no big deal.
The temp swings is all you really have to be concerned about.

I'm sure you have a reason, but I have to ask... why not pay for the corals now and pick them up after work?

It has been done accidentally for 2.5 days....and no problems. Would never recommend that....just sharing.

I've done with oxygen two and three days for frag swaps. Everything made it just fine. Also had a lost shipment for four days that everything survived.

LOL
I figured it had to be something like that, but my curiosity got the better of me.

Sorry you didn't make it.
Better luck next time!
