Well, I bought the octopus NW 150 about a month ago, heres the model I bought http://www.aquabuys.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=vue-nw-150&Category_Code=s1&Product_Count=11

At first it worked ok, but now only seems to produce a little bit of skimmate after I clean the collection cup, and then after that it just builds up along the inside of the tube. Its in the sump of a 65gal. SPS tank with a moderate/high fish load. Any help to get this skimmer producing skimmate would be greatly appeciated. Thanks.

What is the water height in the sump to the skimmer? Have you checked the needle wheel?

I dont know at the moment . Im not at home. But if I had to guess I'd say 9-10 inches.

What water height should it be in?

mines sits in about 8.5 inches of water, the water level in the top area under the collection cup should be just below the little u cut out. use stand pipe to adjust water height. mine took a little playing with to get it right. produces lot of dark green skimmate.

Well, I measured and its in 9 1/2 in. of water. How do you do adjustments on this skimmer? Thanks.

you can try adding a stand made of pvc or even egg crate if you do it sturdy enough. 2 inches or so should do it

not to hyjack your thread, iv had mine installed (octo nw-110) since june. broke in, worked fine for months. i took it out to clean it, put it back in and now its producing really light skimmate. is it just breaking in again?

any thoughts?
