I am considering drilling my tank and was wondering the best location to do so. I know the top back is best, but I don't know if it should be in the center or one of the ends. I figure I will do one of Bean Animal's silent overflows, but not do a full calfo box. One thing I guess to consider would be future resale value of the tank. Which would help keep that higher? I figure I could plumb the water from any part of the tank to the sump.

Is this what you saying here.

It up to you as how you are going to put your rocks in the center or the ends corners or cover the whole back.

yeah that is the one I am thinking of doing. Looks nice. But since I won't do the full length box like he did, I don't know if there are any reasons to put it any particular area. Like if it would somehow affect the strength of the glass, or if one is just more popular and thus better for future resale.

No it will not as long as the hole are cut good.

ok. I guess if it really doesn't end up mattering where it goes, I might as well position it so the pipes go straight down to the sump without the need of any extra elbows.

I made a 36" long calfo-style overflow in my 60" 120 gallon tank.

I have all 3 holes drill torward the left side.

Here you can see the 3 holes and the overflow pipe elbows.

I placed the holes so that they would line up the where I wanted them to dump into the sump (without the need for extra bends as you mentioned)
