I have seen these used on closed loop systems in fish only tanks. I assume they provide a good place for beneficial bacteria to develop.
Is there any benefit of using these in a reef system?
I ask because a while back I saw a post on craigslist for a very large reef (400-500 gallon) that was running 5 of these.
I have never seen anyone use them on any of the forums here?
Any info/comments anyone can provide would be much appreciated.
