My clowns each have a spot about 2/3 of the way back on their body that looks almost as if the skin is "peeling". The spot is on the side of the body. One of the clowns has it on both sides but the other has it only on one side. They are swimming around normally and eating fine. They appear to be yawning every now and then but it could be normal and I'm just now noticing. They have hosted a frogspawn and are not itching on rocks at all. I have had ich in a tank years ago and looks nothing like ich.

Ok, quick history. This tank was setup in mid November and these are the only fish in my tank and have been the ONLY fish in my tank since the start. They are juvenile A. Perculas and only about 1.5" long. They were tank raised and have never been in a tank with other fish than the one they were raised in. I have had them about three weeks now and they fought for the first 4 or 5 days to determine the dominate one which has since stopped.

Other than the clowns I have the following in my tank:

Cleaner Shrimp (1)
Blue Legged Hermits (about 5)
Scarlett hermits (2)
Snails (6)
Limpet (1)
Frogspawn
Open Brain
Candy Cane
Orange Monti Cap
Green Monti Cap
Eagle Eye Zoas
Green Bay Packer Zoas
Pink Zoas
Green Palys
Green Star Polyps
Xenia

Here are some pictures. The first one is a circle on the spot that is effected. The pictures are not that great but for the camera I have its the best I can do.

some kind of fungus, check the disease room, maybe they can pinpoint what kind it is....good luck with your fish

I posted a link in that section.

Someone on another forum said it looked like it could be Lymphocystis since the spots are raised.

Anyone else have any ideas on this?

If it's a bacterial infection, they can be notoriously difficult to diagnose. A gram negative antibiotic is the generic remedy for most bacterial issues. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Do you have a link for that?

Ok today's update. Now don't flame me but I decided to not do anything last night and see what happened. I know it was a risk but so far so good.

They are still VERY active and hungry. I did two light feedings tonight and they ate very well both times. When I mean light I crushed up one flake each time. It appears as though one of the bumps has disappeared on the left side of the one clown. The spot looks more like a bruise now, but not any larger.

Hopefully I'm not putting up too many pictures but here are a few more. I know that these are blurry but they won't cooperate and hold still.

The first two pictures are the ones Wildcat took last night. They are a bit blurry and don't show any of the spots but are mainly to show that their fins are very clear and don't have any spots on them at all

The next picture is again from last night and shows the spot on the left rear and how it sticks out

This picture shows that the bump is not there today, now it looks more like a bruise, almost as if it fell off or healed up some (its the one on the bottom).

This next picture shows a spot on the right side

Last picture shows the top of the fish, just for another angle that appears to be a "healthy side"
