So while I was cleaning my tank yesterday, my fan that was on the back of my canopy fell in. it wasnt plugged in or anything, but thats the only reason i can think of im having fish problems. I had my 6line die last night. my damsel, blenny, and mandarin are all acting different.... what do i do? do a 5-10 gallon water change a day? I did one this morning of about 8 gallons just to see if that helps, but nothing.

We'll need more info. Have you tested the water? Temperature swing? Pump off for too long? Overstocked? New system? New additions? Could be many things.

tank been running for over a year, water params are fine, only thing it could be i guess is a temp change from the water change which was my mistake, i would say maybe 2 degree change.

my mandarin was acting normal all yesterday after the water change, and today she just kinda decide to chill in the same place.

what type of fan was it?? I ask because my PC fans I use all have copper in them....But I would think that should affect the inverts more than fish.. I dont know....

So what SHOULD I be doing,..... water changes daily.... let it do its own thing... im skimming wet, nothing is really coming out... running some carbon.

yup. im at a loss, dont know what is going on, i would hate to loose my mandarin. she has been great. eats brine shrimp like a champ. always fat and happy... not she is just laying on the bottom in her rock breathing heavily, not rapid, but big breaths.... my clowns have not looked affected at all, they are 100% normal...

other than that my shrooms have not opened like they usually do.

Did you stir the sand bed more than usual ?

Shock130

Maybe the fan had some oils or grease in it?

Nearly everything I can think of has been covered with the exception of.... could there have been anything on your hands? Did you handle anything that might have contained toxins an hour or two earlier and hadn't washed your hands? Gasoline, grease, pesticide etc etc.

maybe, but what should i be doing? frequent water changes? the problem is something that happened during the water change. likely the fan.

so change water again tomorrow morning? or let it go and see what happens, or what?

+1 for lots of carbon. I would also do more llike a 30% water change and see if that helps

I believe if you're really worried, you should do 50% WCs everyday until everybody is back to normal. Plus carbon, Polyfilter, etc..

ive been doing some looking on the fans, they were brand new when i installed them, just some wiring customizing. to hook 2 into 1 plug, but they are oilless. but i know they had lots of dust on them...

On a side note, this morning my damsel was swimming and would take a nose dive into the sand. and now he is out alittle more, still not breating right. and my blenny is being his crazy self, clowns look like they always do, unaffected, and my chromis the same.

My GSPs and zoanthids are out fully, my xenias look HORRIBLE yesterday, they look better now, my mushrooms didnt come out, and my new frogspawn didnt come out (I went shopping after my water change (LFS an hour away)
