Harry, the bubble plate in these skimmers is a split design to allow the plate to be removed for cleaning...Is that what you are looking at?

Yes I see it is a split plate.

It looks like the plate was screwed down and snapped
at the screw hole in shipping, there are 3 little pieces of
it floating around inside the skimmer.

I just opened the box a couple of hrs ago to check it
since FedEx seems to handle things a bit rough.

I even ordered it 2nd day to minimize the shipping time.

When I went to put the pinwheels in I found one of
them had a a broken pin :( I installed it anyway.

I will admit it burns me this came in with broken parts:

Plate broken
Pinwheel broken
Air tubes broken off both pumps (I had to fix them too).

I realize that this proabably all happened in shipping
mabie they needs to be packed better...

FedEx has been VERY rough with packages lately. We have not had shipping damages like this in the past, and they are packed the same as they always have been (we have had a lot of damaged packages in the last month).
I think that with DHL closing, FedEx's work load has increased dramatically and they are going too quick and damaging stuff. (I live in the town that DHL is abandoning...10k jobs gone :()

But, like Rob said, we have the part in the mail...hopefully FedEx doesn't screw this one up.

get stuck paying for stuff FedEX breaks.


I have had FedEx deliver to me:

A skimmer with broken parts

A broken light

A broken bucket of Salt

Live rock smashed to rubble

Heaters and parts covered in Yellow dye
(did they think I would not notice?)

Etc......

We ship everything with FedEx, on the whole they do pretty well, but from some reason they have manage to mangle more tings in the last 3 weeks than in the last 3 years. We had to "eat" a cone 2 weeks ago!

...I guess you just have to chalk it up as the cost of doing business. Unfortunately, it makes you the customer have to wait to get what you deserve.

Normally, we can. For one reason or another, this one did not go out insured :(

Not necessarily to bash on FedEx, but the very few times we have tried to submit a claim, they came back with a response of poor packaging. Heck, you saw the packaging your skimmer came in, it is more than enough. I think they need to quit playing kickball with my skimmer boxes!

Wow, that a shame. When UPS broke a used skimmer that I sold, they paid for it, but it was a real pain to deal with and took awhile to get the refund.

I agree that FedEx is a good company in general. Just hate to see a small business or an individual to have to take a financial hit for careless handling.

Yes, the packaging your skimmer came in was very good. Better than others I've seen.

We have considered switching to UPS, I am not sure it would be any different.
