I have three banggai cardinals that I would like to breed. I think two have paired off, so I've moved the third to another tank, but the possible pair is still acting a bit aggressive towards each other.
I decided they were probably a pair because those two fish were always together and the third was always hiding somewhere (there was a fourth, I think he got bullied to death). However, although the two fish are always together, they do display some aggression if the other gets too close, and tend to maintain a distance of a couple inches.
Is this normal for a pair, or should I toss the third fish back in and see what happens?
Thanks.
