Return Pump

Ok My current 90 gallon is on my main floor, while the sump is in the basement. I used a Mag 18 because it was so far away. I am finishing my basement and will be moving the tank in wall in the basement. Now I will only have about 3 feet of head so the pump is going to push like 1500gph. Is this too much? should I just use a smaller pump now?

I would think you could just put a ball valve on the output of the mag18 to restrict the flow to desirable rate, and would save money of a new pump.

The money you save on a new pump could be negated by the cost of extra electricity. Also, the mag 18 may be to much flow in your sump. I would switch to a smaller pump. (Eheim 1260 or 1262, or a Mag that pushes around 700 gph).
