I am going to get another tank.....a nano tank probably looking into the nanocube 24 or the biocube similar. I am new to the nano reef world.....so...

What brand is the better one? I think for now to save some $$$$ I would go with he PC lighting setup...I am going to hook it up to another tanks current filtration system so filtration options on either brand are no consideration....

What do you think??

I realize that some people on this forum HATE the Nano cube, but I have the 24 gallon deluxe and really love it. It's also on sale right now at Drs. F & S for $239 w/ a free stand!

Yes I saw that.....not relly interested in the stand though. I realize that there is going to be some hate in the Nanocube vs Biocube world....just like Ford Vs Chevy.

However, what is it that makes one better then the other. Remember that I dont care about filtration on either unit because it will be hooked to an existing sump/fuge.

Right now I also like the Nano24 mostly because of the size seems good for my location and setup. The 29 may be a bit too big and I know that Biocubes only come in 29 or 14

The nanocube has the daytime lights and the moonlights on the same switch, how dumb is that. If you want to drop some more $$$ you can go to nanotuners.com and get the "Moonlight Fix" but it takes some DIY skill.

I went from a 24g Nanocube to a 28g Nanocube HQI to a Biocube.

Ok...thanks for the info. Can you give me some personal experience using both the nano28 and the bio29. Stuff you liked about one or the other and stuff you didnt like

Personally the moonlight issue doesn't really bother me since I don't use a timer, but if I go out of town it might become an issue. I spent a lot of time looking at the Nano Cube and BioCube and personally thought the Nano Cube was a much better looking tank, but that's obviously personal preference. Since my tank is the centerpiece of my living room look was really important.

I myself given the chance to do all over again. I would have never bought my 29 BC or any cube for that matter. Since you will be hooking it up to an existing fuge, I would much rather do a simple tank if I were in your position. Reason being that the drilling option is there and you could (if so inclined) do an external OF. Also you won't be spending money on a lighting system that you will have to upgrade anyway.

Well that's my nickel's worth.

Good Luck, and stay dry.:)

I like the Current Aquapod. I have had experience with all three.

yea why go with an all-in-one tank if your hooking it up to a sump it doesnt make much sense

Still new at this and in the planning stage so all your inputs are very much thought about....thank you

So far I like the way that a biocube or nano have a very complete looking package and the all in one look, and I also like the black plastic trim....if that makes sense. I figured I would simply have a feed and return line drilled in the back of the equipment area of the tank.

You know what....thinking now, maybe I just am wasting my money for something that I never going to use.....meaning, do I really want a all in one package when I am not going to use it? Probably not.

I will go take a look at the local Petco for some small cube tanks that I will make my own overflow for....thanks!

I would honestly go with an Oceanic 30 gallon cube. They're great looking and are much cheaper than the all in one tanks. You can get the tank, hood, and light brand new for about 150

I would go with the Aquapod 24 with the Sunpod. They have a 24 gallon display unlike the Nanocubes which the number of gallons is overall. I also like the look of a sunpod as well, you can buy the aquapod with the sunpod already on it for a great price.

Haha.. Thank you. I haven't started yet. I am accumulating parts and things slowly. It's tough right now because my first priority is saving for the wedding! ;-) Once I post a build thread, I'll have it linked to my red house at the top to make it easy. Good luck with the cube. it's a great sized tank. I have the 20 inch sunpod MH light for it.

I went with the 150watt.. Couldn't see myself putting 250watts of light on a tank that size. just doesn't make sense. I want a reef tank, not a tanning booth haha.. Plus it was more than $150 cheaper... and much less electricity. although.. now that I'm thinking about it.. the 250 might be nice as well.
