Here are a few of my tiny H. magnifica in a 30 g cube. Not recommended for long term home for this anemone. This tank is big enough to give my tiny anemone plenty of clearance to the side of the aquarium. total of 4 PH in there, plus the return of the skimmer. Two Korellia 2, one Korellia 1 and a Maxijet 1200. Lots of flow for my anemone. No sump bht I add stuff and keep heater in the return cahmber of my CPR hang on the tank.

I dont know if you remeber the one i posed a while back.

Ive had it since november, It doesnt shrink down anymore and its mouth is still tight. I consider this a mild success. Considering the lack of success.

Unfrotunately it starting to grow and darken up so it needs a new home. If anyone in NJ or NY area is intrested please let me know.

I will take pics.

My purple tipped H. magnifica (still a little bleached from shipping):

Yellow tipped, purple base H. magnifica (close to 18 inches across) now going on its 4 th year in captivity. This one "trifurcated" last year and I gave away two of the clones locally:

Hi,

Just wondering if you guys have ever seen a baby magnifica? LFS has one that is around 3 inches wide. It has a purple base and yellow tips similar to Elegance's mag.

OrionN

My mag is about 6 inches wide. I though that is a baby Magnifica.

What do you all think is the prettiest color? Am planning on getting my LFS to order one for me, but can't make up my mind on color.

Also, if you don't mind telling me, how much did you pay for yours?

Mihn, I am beginning to think your mag was considerably bleached and will take on the purple base, cream tentacle, and cream green tip color pattern with time. What do you think?

I will post a pic of mine soon. I need a new picture.

Mine has 3 weeks now, and inflate and delate every day two times at most, when fully inflated looks very nice, kind of brown/tan color, just hope it will regain her color sun, I have it under 150w 20K hqi, and there is about a foot between the light fixture and the mag.
Is it wrong if she inflate and deflate on a daily basis?
My levels are some where fine alk 12 Ca 430 ph 8.3 and 81F°
and congrats to everyone in this thread those pic are awesome

The base doesn't generally change color much even with bleaching. The tentacles can bleach and also shift color. I have had identical clones from the same parent, one with purple tentacles, one that turned to bright yellow tentacles, just from different tank conditions. They also gain or lose solid colored tips.

I'll get some pics up of my four mags when I find my camera.

My mag has climbed to the top of my viewing glass, do you think 150w 20K radium (a month old) isnt enough light for it???

maxxII
02/24/2009, 09:59 AM
It could be light or it could be flow its looking for...

she was like 4 inches lower where gets flow directly from the return pump, now she gets less flow than before

Artur, Light was most likely the determining factor there then. Mine moved around when I went from a 10K bulb to a 14K bulb....
Might consider going to a different bulb. You can light shock the anemone so lower your photo period when you increase your intensity.

Nick

do you think 150w 20K radium isnt enough light ? she is like 4 inches below the fixture

Also this bulb is on for like 6 hr a day and the t5 are on like for 12hr

thanks max!!

I have a HQI 10,000K MH right above my anemone too, but it is on 14 hrs a day (6 AM to 8 PM). It get natural sunlight (AM) in addition to this. I think 6 hrs in not anywhere near enough, given the fact that our light is so much dimmer than the natural light out on the reef-top where many of these animal live. That is why I have my light on so long, plus I am leaving for work at 7 and not back until about 7 PM. I want to look at the tank to relax in the evenning, feed them in AM and PM.

I am in awwwe. Having problems with my manifica. Crawled over overflow into sump. Found him, put it back in main tank. It moves all over the place. Tentacles are little nubs and the color has faded. Can anyone recommend some advice? To help him get on track. Thanks in advance.

This photo was taken today. 16 months old. It has done great from the start. The clowns are 16 year old tank raised ocellaris. They still lay eggs regularly. They were bred by a local reefkeeper.

Scott, I am glad that yours is doing well.

My new H. magnifica. Picture taken today also. Under my care for 1 week and have not deflated. I fed he some dry flakes today. I cannot chance she eat some bad food. She ate it a little slow but ate all the flakes I squirt into her tentacles

Mihn,

That is a beautiful red base!!

Mine looks just like the one you had in the 400 gallon tank.

I discovered my ritteri loves fresh tuna. It seems to attach to and consume fresh tuna more aggressively than anything I have fed Try some if Tom has given you any.

Mine seem to react well to the skin of fresh tuna. Mmmmm time to buy some sushi :)
