How far apart to place SPS frags?

I have some SPS frags that im trying to place in my tank but im not sure how far apart i should place them. they are all about 2 to 3 inches right now. Would 3 or so inches be far enough apart?

Most will tell you at least 6". But we all know that to get the full look there is no way that is possible. I would think 3" would be enough. Just watch them carefully if you are getting decent growth. JMO

with a young tank 8" would suck... 2 yrs later.. you will wish you had allowed more space

Depends on your tank size an how big of colonies you want. For instance, I have a 30g, so 3" apart is fine, because if a coral gets as big as my fist, its a huge colony and must be pruned. For others thats only a frag, and they want huge colonies and need more space between. So its a personal question, you answer it.

For SPS, I personally think as close as 3 inches would work for small frags. They will grow away from each other and avoid touching as they grow. Seems like they have chemical communication going on.

I initially did about 3-4 inches. 1.25 years later I am looking full and wish I would have spaced them more like 8".

AMEN! Two years later and my colonies need way more room. Wish I had a bigger tank. (or a bigger house, so I could get a bigger tank)

I spaced mine around 2-3" two years ago when my frags were tiny, and now they're battling each other for space. Some of my corals grow into each other and encrust over the other. They must have missed the memo about personal space.

I still keep my frags around 2-3", but this time I glue them to small rocks/rubbles, so I can move them apart later.
