Is there anything that distinguishes these bulbs from there older bulbs?
Are they labeled differently on the bulb or box?
Do I have to call or are they the same ones on your web site.

They don't sell their older bulbs anymore. They only have one line of bulbs- the Calfo Signature Series. I think in the near future the bulbs may have different packaging than what is used now. You can call or order on our website. The bulbs on the website are the Calfo Signature Series.

I currently have a Phoenix 14k 250 on Icecap Elect. Ballast.
I was thinking of getting a 20k Icecap bulb for a bluer color but have read that the Phoenix is bluer than most 14k's . Is this true and have you seen them both?

Is the Icecap 20k bluer than the 14k Phoenix?

Thanks

I wouldn't say the Phoenix is bluer than most 14 k's. I would say it is similar to the 14 k's that are blue. The difficult thing is that there is 14k bulbs that are white and 14 k bulbs that are blue and 14 k bulbs that fall somewhere in between. We have to be "brand" specific nowadays when talking about bulbs.

I use both here in my store. I would say the Icecap 20 k is a little whiter in color than the Phoenix. It also appears to be brighter. If you want something bluer than the Phoenix you may want to consider the Ushio 20 k.

Thanks, I was originally thinking of switching to the Radium 20k but that means I have to switch to a Mogul pendent. I wonder whether they are really worth it? Most of the people I see that have killer colors in their pics have Radium's.

We use Radium's also and I like them. I would have recommended them to you if they offered a DE. Most of my customers that have used them really like them.

Can they be used on the Icecap Electronic Ballast? What's the deal with the coloration on the different ballasts?

Thanks for your time

Yes, they can be used on the Icecap Electronic ballasts. But, some people suggest Radiums do not last as long when they are used with an Electronic ballast. Radium 250 watt are designed to be used with HQI ballasts.

The coloration of bulbs can be different when used with different ballasts. In my opinion, this difference is usually very minimal.

But, I am not a lighting expert and do not know all of the details about bulb and ballast combinations. It gets very technical. For example, the same bulb and ballast combo can produce different results when looking at 250 watt versus 400 watt. And not just the obvious difference - brightness. This site contains lots and lots of specific information on lighting.

Radiums seem to be a little whiter in color when used with HQI ballasts. In my store, I have Radiums on HQI ballasts and Radiums on Electronic ballasts. I love the way both look!!
