View Full Version : Adding Kalk with a Dosing Pump and ATO

Hi,
I'm looking to automate my topping off and am wanting to see people's thoughts on the Aquamedic 3000 ATO system and whether this pump is fine to use with kalk.

My other question is I'd be housing the reservoir in the cupboard under the tank where my chiller is and it can get warm in the cupboard (28-29 degrees celcius). My chemistry isn't too great so am wondering if this or higher temperatures can cause any issues with the kalk solution if I was to keep it in these temp ranges?

Thanks

Zen

I'm not familiar with that particular pump but, as long as the dose can be controlled as to not effect an immediate pH swing of .2 units or so, it should work.

I do not think the temperature in your situation is an issue. :)

Good luck with the dosing.

I use an ATO hooked up to an aqua lifter pump in a bucket of kalk. I have to replace the aqua lifter's rubber parts about once a year, but it's a $2 replacement.

It can be dialed back to a drip if you wish, but I run it as-is.
