Okay buys, I have a question.

I have been waiting on the mini cone for my new tank, but am unsure weither it or the 160 will work.

I got the system running , and the location in the sump for the skimmer has a water depth of 14". This is in a standard stand, so I have only about 26" of total height to work with.

Will either of these skimmer, or any others you have work well at this water depth?

The foot print area is 10"x 12".

Total tank volume is about 90 gallons, and I plan to keep a fairly heavy fishload.

Thanks in advance!

14 inches of water is going to be too much. For the MSX160 you will want about 8 inches, I think the MiniS will require slightly less. I amnot sure how much you raise the skimmer in the sump without topping out and hitting the bottom of the tank.

Is shortening a baffle an option? I think that this will be an issue with just about any internal skimmer out there right now. 14 inches is pretty deep.

Well, I can lower the water level, but I was trying to keep as much water in the sump as possible,( more water the better, right?)

But, as you said, it seems to be to high for just about any skimmer.

Looks like I will get rid of a few gallons of water and stick with the mini cone!

Looks like I got to preorder that bad boy!
