Hs anyone tried the Bio-Pure product for your Reef? It is a bacteria and enzyme product designed to eat and reduce all nitrates and phosphates in your system. They claim that it will clear your tank of all unwanted algea like hair algea in 2 wks?

If it works for you as advertised, I think a lot of hobbyists would be talking about it all over the forum. :)

Greetings All !

Hehe ... yet another Bacillus subtilis product, eh? ...

Folks may wish to do a little research on these types of inoculants (... originally isolated from strains inhabiting soils, and most widely applied in solid waste remediation ...) before they start dosing them into their reefs ...

... JMO. ;)

One more thing ... I officially nominate the word "enzyme" for the award for most over-applied, poorly documented, and expensively innocuous marketing jibberish buzzword in the marine ornamental industry for 2009.

JMO ... :D

Isn't that the truth. A Enzyme is a protein catalyst the speeds up a biological reaction which helps break down complex molecules into different molecules. There are so many products marketed as enzymes for reef aquaria that are nothing of the sort (ie bacterial supplements sold as enzymes). They need to just state the facts and leave it at that. Too many people buy into these gimmicks.

By the way I have some prime land in the middle of the everglades I will sell you for a good price, water front, lots of great views, wonderful for people who love nature :D (clause: No fresh water, no electricity, no plumbing, lots of gators, no solid land to build on)

Yes, I know! All I can say is that I have a super bad infestation of hair algea. I have purchased all forms of algea eating animals including 2 sea hares. I am running just every type of water cleaning products like chemipure elite and purigen with no results. I have done water changes up the ying yang and I'm getting ****ed. So I figured I would try this Bio-Pure product. I will give updates to let you all know the results.

Thank for your input!

It has been 2 weeks and the Bio Product has not shown any sign of doing anything positive. Still have hair algea up the wazoo. Even 2 sea hares are not eating it all. I will continue to use this product untill the jar is gone.

I would try using API's AlgaeFix Marine. Hobbyists in this current thread are getting good results with it. I have not tried it myself, but have been following the thread. :)
