brown algae usually isn't. It IS a critter---or a sheet of them---if it's cyanobacteria. Could also be other things equally obnoxious. Color of your lights can affect how it looks. Does it have bubbles in it? Look like a sheet, or a film?

or is it possibly golden colored such as diatoms? Either way it's probably from either too much lighting or too much nutrients or both. You can siphon it out with water changes and possibly lower feedings until it gets under control

My tiger cowle snail eats cyno. Or it did, its all gone now. :)

you might find you can use a turkey baster and blow it off the rocks, then siphon it out of the water when you water change, worth a shot
