View Full Version : Sicce pump not pumping water?
Bought from you guys a month ago MSX200 just went today to hook up the skimmer and pump is not pumping water and is chattering like crazy but when I pinch the airline pump starts pumping and is very quiet then. Any thoughts what the problem is.

It sounds like the mesh may be a little off balance. Take the impeller out and check that there aren't any stray strands sticking off the edges. You may want to trim the mesh very lightly also to help the start up issues. All new mesh jobs will need checked and trimmed if necessary after a short running time as the mesh breaks inand can have a stray strand or 2 come loose.
If that doesn't work, let us know and we'll get it fixed one way or another :)
Ok tried your suggestion and I tried even the pinwheel and still only pumps if I pinch the airline. I'll call monday. Think pump is bad.

Sorry, I was busy and unable to get to the phone...
Okay, recieve back, running for a week now. Pump has stopped sucking air twice now with no pinching air the airline, I check. Only way to make the pump start sucking air again, I unplug it for the night and plug it in, in the morning and it works fine. With mesh mod pump sounds like it starts and stops all the time, so I'm running the pinwheel. Also pump is always really noisey, ear it 25' away with tv on, sounds like can opener running all the time. Call you this morning left you a message. I just want a skimmer that works without messing with it everyday. Skimmer does skim great but this pump is driving me nuts?
I have a Sicce pump on a different skimmer and sometimes after I clean it I have to rotate it around a little under water to get the air bubbles out or it cavitates and chatters. It's kind of like priming it.

Can you ensure that the reducer (black plastic piece) is in the inlet of the pump. This is a critical piece, if it is not there the pumps will cavitate severely and pump almost no water.
