Gravity-feeding a Turboflotor 5000 dual ?

Hi,
I am planning a 500G tank and am considering using an Aquamedic Turboflotor 5000 dual.
The manual says that it should be fed by a dedicated pump, but I want to gravity feed it through the siphon pipe of a "beananimal" type overflow.
Has anyone tried this and if yes how well does it work ?

Can I ask why you've picked the Turboflotor brand? Lot's of choices @ that price range.

Because I know can find it here, and there is actually not that much choice over here :)
