I have one 400watt 14k halide. I feed them from time to time. I have fragged about 4-5 polyps off of them since i got them.

That's typical. Feed them directly every 2 days and you'll get an explosion of growth. Besides having good lighting, parameters and flow.

they seem easy to care for. Relative fast growers. What is the high price tag for? just the awesome color?

What are you feeding them?

just formula 1. Same thing i feed my fish. Only lately i have started to feed cyclopleeze.

How do you get such bold color? Mine are all still very small and no where near half the size of your bigger polyps. Does this come with maturity?

I have some purple deaths that have some of the best color I have seen but the NG have not gotten as intense.

Although, a few days ago I moved them down from very intense lighting to lower in the tank, i think they were getting cooked up there.

Mine like a lot of light and good/strong flow (UNDIRECT). Taken with a point and shoot. Doesn't do justice.

thats funny, my NGs looks great and my PDS not so much. I think NGs like alot of light, and somewhere where they can catch crap in the water, thats where i put mine.

Strange, haha. My PD I kept at the bottom of the tank and they love it. They have a very rich purple, like you see in the fancy pictures. They are just not that large yet.

My NG are somewhat pale. I think I blasted them to too much light or they simply have not matured enough yet. I run a 90g (standard) with an aquactinic constellation right on top of the tank. The NG were probably 8" from the top of the were (essentially where the light sits).

Think that was too much? I am running all full PAR bulbs (no actinics).

I have some palys that under the powerbrites, have a very similar color to the ones in your pictures, but under my regular MH and PC's they look more of a brown color.

Are those really that color, even under daylights?

Mine PD's are in the bottom slightly shaded by rocks ( more purple than brown )

logzor ive never really heard of NGs having to much light. But i have seen them with that pale brown look. Im sorry i cant really tell you what to do to get the better color. I'll try my pds on the bottom, see if that helps.

Jaorld3111, yeah they are a bright neon green. Im sure 650-Is350's are like that too. If they are happy they are one of the brightest green palys ive seen. You can see mine across the room. And this is them under 14k i could only imagine what they would look like under 20k.

That is awesome! Does everyone feed their palythoas, or just the NGs?

im pretty sure NGs are protopalys not just normal palys and thats why they eat. Same with PDs. Most of my zoas/palys will not accept food.

Mostly protopalythoas, Grandis and some PE's will eat.
