gday just wondering does anyone know if t5's can pentrate enough light for a tank 40 inches deep if so what would be the par reading at that depth. Im keeping acanas, ric yumas, morphs, exania, zoos and toadstools but on the very bottom of the tank ive got my acans and rics. Im using mh 400w x 2 but im looking a changing to t5s something cheeper to run.

I believe the deepest any T5 fixture is rated for is 30" and that would be the ATI powermodule.( That also says with proper placement of coral) At 40" a 400w MH would be my only choice.

sticking with m/h 400 would it benifit me to drop the kalvin rating from say 20,000 to either 10 or 14,000 to lower the intensity

Reflectors make a big difference as well, what type of reflectors are you using? Are you planning to keep any SPS towards the middle-bottom?

I am definitely pro t5, but at that depth, you will be disappointed with your results w/ anything other than MH. I agree, 400 halides sound like a good plan. Thats deep!

i have actually got reflectors inside the hoods of the lights, they can be removed.
