ASM g4x+ gate valve mod questions

I have an ASM G4X+ that I want to gate valve mod. Whate size gate valve do I use and where exactly to I install it?

i am planning on doing this mod and the mesh mod so i will be tagging along.

It would be the size of your riser tube (where the water comes out).

I think its 1" on the valve and pvc.And like previously stated it goes on the riser.

My G1X is 1 1/4" PVC. I gate valved it and my riser tube is 1 1/4"...

The size for the 1,2 and 3 are the same but different from the size for the 4,5 and 6.

My G3 is 1.25" pipe so I'M GUESSING that the pipe you would need for the 4,5 or 6 would probably be 1.5" pipe and gate valve.

can you take a pic of your skimmer so i can get a rough idea of where to put each section ?

The G4, G5, and G6 all use 1.5 inch plumbing.

For a pic - I drew one. I went further with my G3 and did a DIY Twist Valve instead of using the Gate so I can't get a pic of the Gate Valve.

Here is how most set it up. BUT - it really doesn't matter where you put the gate. It will work vertically as well.

Put the gate valve before the tee and leave top part of tee open as it will allow air to escape and that means less bubbles in exit pipe.

should the horizontal part of the tee be in the middle of the neck, level with the bottom of the cup, or at the top of the skimmer body?
