Upgrading from a 180 to 500 gal system and was wondering if I could put the SPS (50 frags) straight into the new tank.
It will have about 300# of dead/cleaned marco rock and maybe 60# of cycled live rock.
Plan is to 'cook' the bubble algae off the other 200# of live rock from the old tank for a couple months so it wouldn't go into the new tank for a while.
Only fish is a percula and some snails/hermits.
Thanks!

I wouldnt do it. 50 frags is a big gamble. I'd wait it out, as you will most likely have a mini-cycle (at the minimum).

Alot of dead organic material in the Marco rock it will need to be cycled before adding any livestock.

You need a lot more fish for a 500g system! That one clown will think it got released back into the wild!

The amount of live rock is small compared to the amount of dead rock probably not a good idea. Although if all the rock is live rock it should give you a better chance
