Anyone have an emperor angel in their sps tank?
I know that all angels can be polyp pickers, just checking to see if anyone trusted an Emperor at all.

Thanks!

I have one. Great fish but a little bossy. Once and a while he will pick but it more or less do to me forgetting a feeding. I do have less PE with the angels in my tank, but IMO it a fair trade off.

I had one for more than 2 years with no SPS issues, only bothered meaty(brains, ect...) type corals!

I have one. She has picked at trachyphyllias and lobos....which I had to give away, but does not bother LPS, SPS or octocorals. One of my favorite fish. She is full adult colors now and I have had her since 2005 when she was the size of a 50 cent piece.

Had one for a few years now.
IME they do not bother established SPS corals but will pick at new corals when they are sliming up.

I have had good luck adding them at night so the sliming has stopped before the fish wake up.

They will destroy some soft corals however and I would bet clams as well, although I have never had the courage to try a clam.

It will destroy clams, it is like a buffet for the Imperator. It will eat zoos, brains, candy canes, does not eat frog spawn. Will occasionally pick at sps when hungry. I do like the fish but I wouldn't add one again if I had a 2nd chance.

Wow, I'm amazed to see so many.

Are you guys looking for any particular traits in the fish when you go to the LFS like the fish not picking on rocks etc? Does it matter if you're buying juvi's or adults?

juvi's are the best the smaller the better. Just remember that they need to be feed a lot. QTing them for a few months is a good idea too. Not only are you treating them for disease, but it gives you time to fatten them up.
