Can I run 1 MH with a dual ballast

I have a dual ballast (blue wave 420 watt HQI) but for now I just want to run 1 bulb.
Can I run a single bulb with one cord and leave the other cord free (not connected).

I am worried that this could damage the ballast. Anyone know anything about this?

Yep. I had 2 duals and was only running 3 light for the last year. I just added a frag tank and started running the 4th. It will give you the flexabilty to add another in the future.
