i remember seeing a thread on noisey needlewheels and how to fix it. but i cant seem to find it anywhere it involved some! sanding of the backside of the wheel etc.. thought it was in here

Dog, you know I would help anytime :)... But you did go to the correct place! You in westend? I am going by Jim's mid-day, on Friday.. I could look at it (fix it)..
BTW, I just bought a octo hang-on with sicce pump.. For my seahorse tank! (thinking of setting up Fish only tank, so I can get some Angels)
