There are some things you may eventually need in this hobby that are good to have around. Please add to this list as you think of any.
I keep:
Vinegar for cleaning pumps and powerheads
A grabber for removing things
A fishtrap for problematical fish
An acclimation chamber for social acclimation of fish
Extra salt water for water changes or emergencies
A battery powered air pump (formerly, now I have a generator)
Any more?

extras of almost anything are good to have on hand. containers, heaters, powerheads, pumps, nets, light bulbs... the list goes on. i've read horror stories around here and elsewhere wherein the aquarist has to suddenly come up with a way to move things in a hurry and having a bunch of old equipment or extras on hand is invaluable should an emergency arise.
here's a great article that includes a list of extras that would come in handy (my source for the above suggestions in addition to my own observations of tales.)
