I have a problem I was cleaning my skimmer yesterday I unplugged both power heads and when I plugged them in 1 was making a weird noise almost like something was stuck or grinding. My question is do I need to disconnect the powerhead and clean it is this normal I have only had it up and running for about 3 weeks now.

Impeller users only:
First I would take the pump apart and take a look at the impeller and make sure everything looks ok. If there isn't any noticeable damage then make a small modification to the Pin wheel impeller

Trim back and clean the mesh.

It did not work still makeing a grinding noise.

Are you running the pin wheel or mesh?
Did the pin wheel rotate back and forth freely on the magnet?
Did you notice anything lodged in the pump itself?
Make sure the venturi is clean.

It is a needle wheel
It does not move back and forth just rotates
Yes I soaked everything in hot water it still makes a grinding noise or harsh vibrateing is causeing to make a loud noise I think there is something wrong with the impeller what is next

Also I am having trouble with the water level I cannot get it higher inside the skimmer it actually haqs gone down over the last couple of weeks.

If the inside of the pin wheel was sanded correctly then the PW should rotate side to side. Check to see if your airlines are being kinked.

I followed the instructions to the t I also called the number before I did anyhthing to make sure i did nothing wrong the pump itself will not put out that mush as it was doing before the lines are not kinked there is something wrong with it not sure if it is just the impeller or the pump itself.

OK I have taken it apart and resanded it works fine in a bucket of water for whatever reason when I hook it up to the skimmer it wil make the noise not nearly as bad as it was I will keep it on and see if it works it way out overnight. If it does not work out can I buy a new impeller for it.
