i was thinking copepods... but can't find a picture of one that looks like this to confirm.
they are teeny tiny, hard and stationary....

Those are small filter feeders that usually pop up on the glass of new tanks. Nothing to worry about. :)

Spirorbid worms. Harmless little filter feeders. If their population gets too big, you can scrape them off the glass with a razor.

thanks! glad to know they are harmless -

where did they come from? just showed up overnight as tiny little white specks and then doubled/tripled in size and numbers over the next night?!?
we also had a feather duster "appear" (tiny tiny little bugger) out of nowhere ???

sorry, still learning this bizarre, fabulous underwater world.

They are actually a kind of feather-duster, I believe. Probably hitched a ride on your liverock. That's where mine came from.

Harmless bugs, but they get annoying when they get all over the glass

They just hitch hike in on the LR and reproduce. Google serpulid worm - my bet is your tiny little feather duster is one of those. ;)
