I've had a Duncan for about 3months now and it has bleached over time now. When I got it it had 1 head and now it has 3 but it has turned to a translucent green. My light is a 14k pheonix 150w mh bulb. My photoperiod is 7hrs. The Duncan is about 18 inches from the light.

Water params

Nh4: 0
NO2: 0
NO3: 2.2 all above lamotte test kits
PO4: 0 hannasmeter
Ca: 450
Alk: 2.34 meq
Mg: 1100

Any one have any suggestions?

My Duncans bleached and it was because I was dosing too much Amino Acids. As soon as I cut back, they were fine. The interesting thing is, I liked them better bleached!

Also, feed them if you have been, try and target feed them, feeding will do two things, one keep them healthier and two, they grow very fast.

they definately don't need a lot of light............mine has gone from 2 heads to over 15 in less than a year..............target feed them also......they are like garbage disposals..........mine eat anything and everything.

I spot feed them cyclops every other day and I also moved the Duncan lower in the tank and more to the edge in less light. My photoperiod is 7 hrs withba single 14 k 150w mh bulb with no other supplementation, do you all think that is too long?

Also the only thing I dose is randy's diy alk and kent marine Ca buffer.

Raise the Mag, 1300-1500. I've kept my tank at those levels and my duncans a great.

I'd try feeding them something other than cyclops. Ive even fed mine pieces of silversides.
