I have a 48" constellation that I LOVE! Right now I'm using the mounting legs. Should I drop it down to the top of the tank? Am i going to get a lot more heat if I do this?

Thanks,

B

I have the 72" Constellation and found that at the 7" mark (above the tank) I get the best light spread. I use the hanging kit though.

The legs are only 4 inches high i THINK... I just wonder how much difference in light distribution over 24" that 4 inches really makes,., and then how much heat I'm going to get from the unit.

Also, it does seem like I'd get salt creep on the plexi pretty fast in substantial amounts.

That being said, it stands to reason that the light would be a LITTLE bit more intense in the tank.

B,

The riser brackets raise the Constellation 2 1/4" off the tank. By lowering the fixture to sit directly on the tank you will notice a difference in intensity. You shouldn't have any heating problems. Just as an example we are running a Solar Flare directly on top of a 75ga and the tank is staying at a stable 75 degrees (that's what the heater is set at).

Thank you,

Put mine right on top and it made a huge difference. No heat issues yet either.
