Mine hasn't even glanced at any inverts or coral. Very cool fish.

some websites say that they nip at clams. i have two. do you think i should worry about that at all or is it a 50/50 chance like dwarf angels?

I have a male. I would not call him 100% reef safe. He has taken a nip at a Trach. radiata and a Cynaria. He also eats the fins off chromis. Dont know why, thats just his thing. I have since moved him into a different tank, probably wouldn't buy one again.

For the most part, blue jaws are reef safe, in fact they're incredibly passive. Of course there's always the runt who will nip and things here and there but I've seen quite a few that are quite tame.

Big majority for my research are big babies, and model citizens in their new home tanks. Haven't heard of any real issues other then possibly snacking on inverts, mostly ornimental shrimp though. Pretty hit or miss but mostly miss... I too plan on picking one up when the time comes :D

I had a little male, very strange coloration. Had the body color of a sargassum, but definitely had the blue throat. Ended up being killed by my baby sailfin tang.

Very peaceful fish. I'd say go for it if you're gonna get it! You won't be disappointed, but just to warn you it'll probably hide for about a week. Make sure to feed it plenty as it will likely learn to eat from your hand.

the biggest thing i am worried about are my clams and totally getting my reef wiped out. would the Blue jaw trigger even have a slight chance of wiping out my reef or picking at my clams? i just dont wanna lose everything i worked so hard on.

I've never heard of a blue jaw going nuts. From what I've experienced and read, the thing they're a big threat to is like small feeder shrimp. Other than that though, I wouldn't worry.

My friend had one and he was a perfect fish for 2 years, then my friend had a baby. At that point he didn't put so much effort into his tank and the feeding schedule was not consistent and the Blue Jaw ate his inverts first and then his fish. But of course when your fish are not getting fed for a week at a time they will find food. He use to feed him squid, krill and sometimes flakes.

i have a golden dwarf eel, hermits, cleaner shrimp and the smallest fish i have is my purple pseudo. do you see any problems with any of these things?

the reason i put my golden dwarf eel is because he is the most expensive animal i have in my tank and i work all of my new additions around him.

It sounds like you should be fine. Get a little one, keep him fed and you'll be fine.
