how long do they live? i've heard that there life span is only about a year, and when you get them, they have already lived like ten month's. i wantedto get one, but i don't want it if it will just die in a month.

It depends which species you get. Most only have a lifespan of a year or two and like you pointed out there's no good way to tell how old they already are when you buy them. This is a major problem with "blue spotted sea hares" (Bursatella leachii) which are usually collected close to the end of their lifespans when they aggregate in shallow water to spawn. However, at least one species, Dolabella auricularia can live for around 5 years.
