I have 3 new fish: a 4" Australian harlequin tusk, a 4.5" bluethroat trigger and a 2" Blue Velvet Damsel. They are all in QT and all are doing well and very bright.

The trigger is VERY shy and I can't get any good pics of him. Also please excuse the dirty tank. I'll try to get better pics tomorrow (after cleaning the tank) and trying to get a good shot.

The pic doesn't do the tusk justice. It has a lot of blue on it (which the pic doesn't show). It was also a little pale when I got it on Saturday but seems to be getting the colors back now.

The damsel is pretty cool. Very bright, but aggressive little guy. Stands up to the trigger and tusk twice its size (and in a 30 gallon QT).

The trigger is shy and I can't get a clear shot (not that the other pics are good pics, but this one is even worse).

First off, all of them are great fish and if they make it, will do well with the right tankmates.

On the subject of Aussie tusks....small ones look just like the Indo it seems and I wonder how many stores add that extra $40 and say it is an Aussie. I got to see about 15 6"-8" aussie tusks side by side at a store last week and I gotta say they don't all have the red tail, the same proportions of black/white or silver in the back or the purple on the face or along the sides....it really is a crap shoot. Also, the orange of the front half was not the same either. Some is much more strong than others. Talk about temptation with the low $$$, but I passed.

OP, can't wait to see the 260 once up and running.

Yeah the juvi tusks do look alike. But this one has some blue, so it looks like an Aussie. I'll get some better pics. Plus I got it from bluezooaquatics, so I trust their word.

Also, it's going to be a 360 :)

Nice fish!!! It looks like a A tusk since I can see some red in the tail. I don't see that with indo ones, anyone else? Watch out for those damsels, they get huge and all black! Can't wait until the 360g is ready!

Great fish, and great job putting them in QT first. But...

I know, I need to clean the tank:). But I did a water change earlier and left marks on the glass. I saw all the fish were out and didn't want to scare them by cleaning the glass - they're all very shy.

How agressive is that damsel? I have one about 4 inches and it took out after my 6 in tusk, a 6 inch huma trigger and a clown trigger its own size. It is freaking mean! Mostly tail slaps but it is the smallest fish in the tank with lots of meaner fish. Just curious if they are all like this.

Well, I've only had it for a few days, but so far it seems to try to push around the tusk and bluethroat (fish twice its size). Of course they don't budge, but neither does the damsel. It looks pretty mean and I imagine will only get meaner as it gets older.

I just received my tusk yesturday, does your hide most the time? I put mine in my display with multiple fish and he has hidden behind rocks the majority of the last two days. Just curious if this is the norm? Also where did you get him from?

Got him from bluezooaquatics. When I was acclimating it, I thought it was dead because I couldn't even see it breathe. But I know wrasses play dead some times, so I continued with acclimation.

Anyway, I got him on Saturday. He didn't come from the rocks until Sunday night. On Monday, he started coming out and by Tuesday was swimming like crazy. Was/is not afraid of me at all (unlike the bluethroat trigger, who's afraid of his own shadow). But, I have him in a QT with 2 other new fish, so no one is picking on him.

Do you have pics of yours?

Not yet, he's been hiding a good amount. I got mine from vividaquarium. I will add a post when he is more social. Glad to hear yours was a little reserved as well. I heard they can be shy for the first week or so.

Here is an updated pic with the glass cleaned :) and the fish swimming about. I am still getting the hang of taking pics of the tank

One major hint for aquarium photography is take the picture while the camera is pointing straight at the tank. If you angle through the glass your fish will come out distorted. You can see the effect on the blue throat, it looks almost taller than it is long.

But on a positive note, your fish look good :)

That does not look like an Australian HT. Rather an Indo variety. Hopefully you did not pay Australian prices.

In the pictures it does look like an indo one, but it actually has thin blue stripes that you cannot see in the picture (and they're getting brighter as the fish adjusts) and it has a reddish tail (at least the back 50%) that you cannot see in the picture either.

I can easily see the redish tail, the blue lines barely in some places, but again, like you said, it isn't the greatest of pics.
