Several of my friends are telling me that ER actually under rates their skimmers a bit. Is this true? I am building a 110G right now with a medium fish load and mostly LPS and softies. I've been toying with ASM vs. MSX, but if the Euro Reef RS80 would handle things for me, I might go that way due to the smaller footprint. Can anyone verify this for me?

I cant really comment on whether they underrate their skimmers, but I use a RS100 on my 65g with 20g fuge - approx. 62 total volume. I would recommend something larger for you.

i wouldn't say they under rate their skimmers, the just don't over rate them like many of the other manufacturers do. i would say they realistically rate their skimmers. if what you say is true you could probably get away with a 135 but i would go with a 180 so you have no limitations down the road.

135? 180? I was thinking between the 80 and the 100!

I have the CS8/2 or 180 as they are called now I would not recommend that skimmer for your setup I would recommend the 135. I have a CS 5/3 now on my 150 gallon total tank and pulling 2 to 3 cups a day I could not get the CS 8/2 to pull one full cup.
