I have had my Mystery Wrasse for almost two years now. He is one of my favorites. IMO, they are very hardy and eat just about any food that comes their way. Having said that, if you have shrimps in the tank, they might become his dinner. Some people will tell you that if the Mystery Wrasse is added after the shrimps to the tank, they should be ok. In my case, my Mystery Wrasse was added months after the shrimps. After a few days, all of the shrimps were gone. You will be very happy with your Mystery Wrasse. At $100, you got a very fair deal. Best of luck and congrats!!!

I have a large one and he has never touched any of my inverts. He is kind of the puppy dog of the tank and doesn't bother his tank mates. In fact, he is actually scared of my blackcap basslet and coral banded shrimp

$100 is a great price. IME - They are hardy, initially timid but once acclimated they can become bold. Mine is the smallest fish in the tank, other than two chromis/. It has picked out certain fish that he hates. He attacks my Bellus - both, and the percs. It killed a sixline by chasing it over the overflow and a newly added blue sided fairy wrasse went to a friend because it had severe battle scars within 24 hrs - despite being 2x in size.

Great later addition. never bothers my inverts - though I don't think they they can be entirely trusted. I love the eyes on these fish.

i talked to a few websites and they said that blue jaw triggers may be risky in a reef tank. whould you get a blue jaw trigger or the mystery wrasse?

They are by far my favorite wrasse though... awesome colors.

A Mystery wrasse and a Blue-Jaw Trigger really aren't comparable - choose what you want and like.

My experience (and fish) were completely the opposite.

I lie, the only fish he had a problem with was my pair of orange spotted prawn gobies. Whenever he saw them he changed his colour all pale and his head went a light blue/green colour and and chased them like it there is no tomorrow.

They have since been relocated to my overflow where they have been happily living for the last month...................
