I tried to call your store this evening when I got my skimmer in the sump. One of my pumps is quiet as a mouse, the other sounds like a can opener (literally). I didn't want to run the mesh so I took it off and put the NW in. Both ways it is REALLY loud. So far it has been running for 2 hours and hasn't quietened down. I'll continue to let it run till bedtime but will have to shut it down because my tank is directly beside of my room. Can you give me suggestions?

Love the quality of build. Hate the flimsy hoses. Going to pick up some better ones tomorrow.

I am going to like the skimmer. It is made very well and will be easy to clean/maintain. It has been in service 24hrs and is already skimming comparable to my MRC skimmer and isn't even broke in good yet. Very good for the price.

One of the pumps I got for the 250 sounds the same (at least I think it does). It has an intermittent whirring sound that is pretty loud. Thankfully the sump is in the basement, so I don't notice it, but wonder if it is actually a problem I'm neglecting. I'd like to hear what the resolution is and if I should send the pump in for a replacement?

I was thinking it would go away once the slime builds up. But I guess maybe I shouldn't speculate.

SOME pumps are noisy in the beginning and quiet down with use...if they are going to quiet down it will be within the first 14 days.

After speaking with Jason on the phone, his pump sounds like it has an issue that will not go away with time, so He is going to send it to us and we will look at it and repair/replace the noisy pump.

I fired it up officially on Wednesday. I'll give it a couple weeks and see what happens. Thanks Jeff!

You're welcome!

If the pump is indeed faulty, let us know and it will be taken care of :)

Jeff,
Some updates from weekend observances on my pump. I have let it run continuous. When I got home from work on Friday it was totally silent. I was ecstatic. Saturday I got new airline tubing to replace the stock hoses. I had to shut it off to install the new tubing. When I plugged it back in it is now loud again :( One particular observance I made is that when I plug the pump in without being attached to the skimmer or the airline tubing it is quiet. As soon as it is hooked to the skimmer and the tubing it is loud again. Wasn't able to ship to you today due to a holiday. Would there be any way you guys could just ship me a new pump and me send you this one when I get the other? I hate to take the skimmer offline till I get a replacement. I do not have any 3/4"plugs to put in it to run a single pump.

Jason

On a positive note I have a half full collection cup of some smelly stuff :) just from the weekend.
