Reef Crystals and Phosphate??

Is it possible that my Reef Crystals Salt is adding Phosphates to my tank? I tested my RODI water and got .01ppm. I also tested a fresh batch of RODI mixed with Reef Crystals and got .12ppm. It says "free of phosphates" right on the bucket. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have used it for several years and have not had that issue.

I think it more likely testing error, but I suppose it might have gotten contaminated somehow.

I used a Hanna Instruments Low Range Phosphate Meter to test the water.

The saltwater had been mixing for 15 hours. Maybe there was some kind of contaimation in that. Next time I mix salt water I will take a measurement right before and right after adding salt and compare the numbers.

That would be a good idea. I have tested many salt mixes and have not found one yet with any measurable phosphate. :)
