This is a 5 inch chunk that I bought for $45. This is my second one. They are great active corals with long sweepers. I keep reading that they have poor survival rates due to brown jelly infections but I never had a problem with them.

Nice piece Crustman! Never had a problem with them either....Other than their sweepers. My most recent specimen was about 1.5" in length, and I had to get rid of it unfortunately. My tank is so crowded now and with 10" sweepers, I was just asking for trouble!

One of my favs though :)

I did't realize these had problem sweepers on them, or maybe shrooms are immune to them...?

Ive had a little 1x1" frag for about a month now with its sweepers rolling over three shrooms and sun coral with no affect.

I've found galaxia's to be NUCLEAR. Those sweepers can take out a variety of corals quickly. I just used to keep it near some xenia. They kept each other in check.

They are pretty though.

not to hijack the thread, but... i have galaxea also and the sweepers never seem to retreat. they are always out. is this normal? do i have some chemical warfare going on?
by the way, nice coral. i like galaxeas alot. very colorfull and tough. i have had mine in high and low flow spots and it loves both.

I agree, the sweepers seem to be out most of the time especially when the powerhead is blowing on them. Mine are on a wave timer.

The sweepers on mine were out 24/7 over the 3 months or so I had it before I got rid of it, and there wasn't another coral within 5-6"

those sweepers are deadly. i am losing room in my tank for mine. i wonder how many reef-keepers used to own a galaxea?

I have heard that higher flow encourages sweepers from all lps that weild them. Try placing them in calmer water.
